17 Lemon Soda

Today's NOTD is 17 Lemon Soda, a yellow pastel cream from Boots cheap, cheerful and on trend brand 17. I picked this up ages ago but it was still on their website when I checked, so I think it's still available.  The picture below was taken with the flash but it is pretty colour accurate (I did take pictures in natural light but my cuticles were so horrible I couldn't possibly bring myself to show you!!!)

Application wise - This wasn't great but it also was not as bad it as I thought it was going to be. Pastels are historically tricky to apply, as are yellows, so let's face it, it was never going to be easy! The pictures show 3 coats and most of the issues were evened out by then, the coat of Seche Vite on top didn't hurt matters either!  This wore well and I think I got about 5 days wear out of it before there was chippage (Surely this is a word?! If not it should be!).

I know yellows are a bit of a marmite issue with people so what do you think?  I think this was one of the nicer yellows out there. Are there any other yellows you'd suggest?

17 Catwalk Couture

Today's NOTD is 17 Catwalk Couture, a turquoise polish with a hidden shimmer. Well, the shimmer was visible on the outside of the bottle but  I couldn't spy it in the polish when applying nor when I was wearing it, so I guess imperceptible shimmer is the right description here. I picked this up as one of polishes I bought when I got the 17 Nail Bar in a Bag  The bottle contains 15? ml and despite it saying on the shelf €4.59 it scanned through at €3.99 (as did the other polish I bought). Let's see what it looks like,  shall we?

I took pictures of this in all types of light - all combinations of  natural, artificial, flash and  no flash and this was the most colour accurate, but it's still a bit paler than it was in real life.
Application of this was perfect - no issues at all. Everytime I use a 17 polish, I think I don't like the brush but actually I think its the stubbyness of the handle I don't like, the brush it quite large and fans well so can paint a nail with one stroke. The wear wasn't great on this, on the second day I got chips on 2 fingers. I happened to be wearing  H&M Turquise Kitty on my toes at the same time and the colour is very similar but the shimmer is more evident, looking back at that post, I found that, that polish chipped quickly too!

17 Nail Bar in a Bag (GWP)

I was in Boots over the weekend when I noticed this gift with purchase (GWP) and thought I'd do a quick post about it in case those of you near a Boots hadn't seen it. The gift is called Nail Bar in a bag and is free with 2 17 purchases. (I bought two nail varnishes which cost €3.99 each - although the shelf said they cost €4.59 each)

Once you open the very cute bag and open the pink tissue paper, you get  a pink leopard print nail file, some heart shaped nail stickers, Knockout Red (left) and Pink Grapefruit (right).

So, if you have a boots near by rush out and get one before they're all gone! I'll probably try out the polishes in the next few days along with the other 2 I bought (Woo Me and Catwalk Couture) if there's one you'd like to see in particular, let me know and I can do that first!

NOTD 17 Peacock Matte

So like I mentioned yesterday, I really wasn’t feeling the 17 peacock, I wore it to work and hated it. I was really looking forward to taking it off but work was really hectic and I was really late and way to pooped to do a mani. So I threw a coat of No 7 Matte Top Coat on top.

Here’s the pic

I actually liked this much better  and ended up wearing it for a few days. The wear was really great, I know mattes don’t wear as well usually.

No 7 is a Boots brand, the matte top coat is a limited edition and costs €9.75. (I used a €7.50 off No 7 voucher I had, so it cost me €2.25). Application is fine, although I don’t love the No 7 bottle, it’s so tall and narrow, it’s easy to knock over.  The bottle contains 10 ml.

Comments, suggestions, just saying hi, all appreciated!

NOTD 17 Peacock

Today’s NOTD is 17 peacock, from their fast finish range. An aquamarine colour polish, with a micro glitter, I *think* that this finish is called called a frost, it’s slightly metallic and quite brush-strokey. (I’ve kind of struggled with giving this finish a name! It could be a frost, a foil with shimmer, etc....) 17 is a Boots’ brand and their varnishes, are around €4. I’ve picked this one up and put it back so many times, I’ve always been unsure about it.   So here come the pictures,

Sunlight, No flash.

Natural light (shade), No flash.

Artifical  light, flash.

I really didn’t feel this colour at all, I just didn’t like the finish. (Look at all it's frosty-ness in the last photo - yuck!) I showed it to a couple of people and they didn’t particularly like it either.  I’m not sure  the colour suited my skin tone either, so that probably didn’t help.  Application was fine, except for the brush strokey finish always associated with this type of polish. The bottle is 8ml.

Have you tried this polish? How do you feel about? Is it just me?!

Haul

I took a few days off over the last week, I just wanted to get a few things done before Uni, started back.  Of course, this necessitated a couple of visits to Boots, where *ahem* some polishes may have sneaked their way in my basket!

From L-R, No 7 Matte Top Coat, No 7 Grey skies, Barry M Vivid Purple, Barry M Raspberry, 17 Ruby Dazzle, 17 Peacock and 17 Exquisite.

I was really excited to see Barry M in Boot’s, we’ve never had it before. Although, because it was new, the stand was ransacked. The Barry M polishes cost €4.50, but were on offer 2 for €8. The bottles hold 10ml. I’ll go back and get more soon, when the stand is refilled!

The two No7 polishes cost €9.75 for 10ml. They're a great thing to use the €7.50 of No7 vouchers, if you have any floating around!  The 17 fast finish polishes cost €4.29, but were on offer 2 for €6.50 according to my receipt, there was no sign. The lasting finish was €3.99. I would have got another polish if I had known about the offer. The 17 polishes are 8ml.

My Stash

Today, I thought I'd post a few pictures of my small stash, so to start off here's a picture of most of my polish stash. I found a few more lying around the place after I took the pictures and I know my Mum and sister have a few too. I must make a spreadsheet because I have no idea how many polishes I have, I guess around 60.

Next up, The OPIs

The China Glazes.

The Orlys and Ruby&Millie.

Elf and No7

Essence

17

Collection 2000, Rimmel, Maybelline and H&M

Essie, Claires and mini OPIs from the Spanish collection

That's it for now. Have a great weekend!
